Words I Live By Series: Honesty

Honesty is the ultimate test as a human being because a lie can be more convenient than the truth.  When a woman asks a man, “Do you think I look fat in this dress?” If you are a smart guy and value your life you will say, “No, you look great, honey!”  No matter your opinion, you want your woman to feel good about her self so you make up a small lie to comfort her.

If you want to go on a short vacation from work you call your boss and tell them in a sick voice, “Hi John, I’m sorry but I cannot come in today because I’m feeling really sick.”  Another popular small lie goes like this, “I really like you and everything but we are just not working out. It’s not you, it’s me.”

The truth can be difficult to hear, when you speak your mind some people will attack you because they simply dislike or strongly disagree with your opinion but the truth will set you free.

The best relationships are those built on love, trust, and respect.  You cannot have one without the other.  When you love somebody you must respect them enough so they can trust you with their opinions and thoughts.  It is selfish to expect your loved ones to shackle up their true self just to please you.  Nobody wants to walk on eggshells to avoid your verbal attacks.

Sometimes small lies seem fine since they are not hurting another person physically or mentally but it is highly imperative that you be honest to the best of your ability, in all situations.  When you become too comfortable with lying, you start to get out of control with the lying and before you know it, you start believing your own lies.  Next comes having no problem cheating on your wife, girlfriend, family, friends, employer, taxes, etc.

You can only lie, cheat, or steal for so long until it starts catching up to you.  Before you end up in jail, seriously injured or dead you have to realize that the world does not revolve around you.

The worst lie you can tell is the one that does wrong by your family, friends, and significant other.  Why would you wrong those that you love and who put their trust in you?  Lies and deceit can only bring you temporary gratification until you end up alone and depressed.

Life becomes a significantly better place when you accept the honorable mission of honesty, which involves treating those around you with respect by accepting their differences of opinion, living together in a peaceful serenity, sharing thoughts freely without having your throat being ripped out.

I have survived 28 years of continuous learning and overcoming all adversity; I am a better person because of it.  Despite 9/11, global warming, global cooling, pollution, H1N1, Auto-Tunes, the end of the world, and having Obama in office, I am still here in this great country of ours.  God bless the U.S.A!  This life has brought me many blessings and I would not change it for the world.

Drama-Free is the Best Way to Live

Drama is like a cancer that seems to spread faster with every breath when someone flaps his or her lips with verbal nonsense and trash talk.   When you have negative comments to say about someone, do the world a favor and keep them to yourself because there are people out there like myself that only want to focus on positive thought and action.

I try to get along with everybody and have a good time.  I always want to do right by people.  I am not a snake waiting to strike.  I am a Golden Retriever that just wants to play and enjoy the company of others.  I am not looking for drama, in fact I am trying to avoid drama and enjoy life to it’s fullest.  It takes more energy to fight with people than to do something positive like relax and have a beer with somebody and enjoy being in the moment.

No matter where you are some type of drama is brewing because many people are obsessed with causing drama between people.  Why is that and what does it solve?  Is life so boring that people must cause drama and fight with each other over ridiculous rumors or petty little things?  You must remember that their are people that like to spread inaccurate information like a widespread disease because they cannot live without causing drama and disrupting other peoples lives.

Some people need to learn to keep their mouths shut about issues that do not concern them, minding your own business is a great way to stay out of trouble and eliminate unnecessary drama.  Let others speak for themselves because that is what grown people do.  The main problem that comes into play is when people believe whatever someone says as true information no matter the source.

The best thing to do is make sure you hear what transpired from the horses mouth, not just randomly accept what any person said as fact.  Sometimes you have realize that not everybody you hear negative information from is telling the truth, they may be misinterpreting what was really said, or looking to stir up a hornets nest at your cost.

Jumping the gun so soon about everything does not solve anything and nothing good will come of it.  I think everybody has the right to have the benefit of the doubt before being judged.  Let God do the judging of others and work on enjoying life with other people.   Life is too short to be caught up in drama and looking to hate on others.

Take the time to live it up, smoke some Ganja with Bob Marley.  Take it from him: “One Love, One Heart, Let’s get together and feel alright.” Another good one is “Judge not unless you judge yourself” – Bob Marley
